Translation certification: preparing the right documents

Customers often request notarized translation when they need a certified translation for an application. Choosing the appropriate service requires clarifying the destination, language and accepted certification. Sen Vang reviews the documents and discusses the relevant steps so you can prepare before booking and confirming costs.

Clarify content translation and certification

The translation should reflect the full document, including relevant stamps, tables and notes. Certification takes the form appropriate to the application and receiving organization. Ask what type of translation it requires rather than relying solely on a service name used informally. This helps reduce the risk of having to repeat the work.

Information to provide

A complete request makes review and quotation faster. State whether the documents are for domestic or overseas use, the deadline and number of sets. Include receiving-party instructions or requested corrections to an earlier translation.

  • Complete, legible files showing all stamps and identifying information.
  • Source and target languages and copies required per document.
  • Receiving-party requirements for names, formatting and certification.

Resolve possible discrepancies early

Different name spellings, faint photographs and missing pages can affect delivery. Explain known differences so their treatment can be discussed; do not alter the original content yourself. Sen Vang reviews documents before confirming that the requested work is possible. Any need for originals or suitable copies is discussed separately.

Distinguish consular certification and legalization

Cross-border documents may require more than ordinary translation certification. Consular certification, legalization or exemptions depend on the document, country and receiving organization. Verify requirements with the competent authority or receiving party. Translation advice helps clarify related work but cannot guarantee the application's approval.
